A Peace Harp for Ireland
One of
Ron's greatest dreams is to build a giant wind harp in Ireland as a
symbol of peace, and to use the 12th century "Brian Boru" harp as the
inspiration.
When Ron was working a project to build a peace pagoda near Bainbridge Island
(for an order of Japanese Buddhist monks who are dedicated to world peace
and build peace pagodas all over the world),
he met a Catholic nun from Ireland, who told him as long as he had designed
a wind harp and a peace pagoda, that he should design a Peace Harp for Ireland.
She envisioned it standing on the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic.
She said, "The winds from the north and the south play the same beautiful
melodies."
The project was once considered by a developer in Donegal, but the very
commercial nature of the development didn't quite match the spirit of the
Peace Harp.
Ron welcomes any suggestions for actually getting it built.
